Scouting is fun... with a purpose.

The Scouts, families, and leaders of Pack 418 are having another great year!  Each event provides fun-filled, family-oriented activities.  Pack 418 is sponsored by the Durham School PSO.  Our pack is very active, and conducts fun, family-oriented year-round activities.

Our annual activities include:

Bike Rodeo, Summer Camp, Scouting For Food,  Winter Carnival,  Nature Center Projects,  Christmas Tree Recycling,  Blue & Gold Banquet, Swim Party ,  Pinewood Derby,  Christmas Caroling,  Flight Festival, Hikes,  Field Trips,  and more!

We typically meet once a month as a Pack on the fourth Monday of every month at 6:30pm in the Durham School Cafeteria when school is in session.

Our Pack is made up of five Dens.  Dens are groups of 5-8 boys of the same age/grade.  Dens usually meet twice a month. Once for a ‘Den Meeting’ the other for a ‘Go See It’.  The Den Leader and families decide upon specific times and locations.

If you know someone else that might be interested in joining our Pack, pass on our information. Your child can join scouts at any time!

Blue and Gold Banquet PDF Print E-mail

The Blue and Gold banquet is one of our most exciting events of the year, because it is a Birthday party for Cub Scouting in which all pack families can take part. The banquet is held in February, the anniversary month of the Boy Scouts of America. The pack’s big celebration gets its name from the Cub Scout colors, Blue and Gold.  Blue stands for truth and spirituality, steadfast loyalty and the sky above. The Gold represents sunlight, good cheer and happiness.

Our Blue and Gold is a potluck affair with each family bringing a covered dish.  The plan of feeding isn’t important. It is the Cub Scouting that happens in making the program come true that counts. Our dens sit together with their families, so that den spirit and family relationships are strengthened. Guests may be invited and are seated either at a head table, or with the dens. The banquet arrangements are planned well in advance.   The pack typically provides the dinner program entertainment.

Since the most important point of the program is the recognition of advancement of the scouts, it will finish with an Order of the Arrow indian themed cross over ceremony with our older Webelos den crossing over into boy scouts. We will also be recognizing Leaders and special parents.

Please see the attached planning guide and invitation.

At Pack 418 our only fundraiser is our Christmas Tree Recycling event.  We recycle trees within our Scouting For Food territory.  Out traditional territory is two areas bordered one near Durham Grade School and the other is the City of Durham. The west part of the teritory is bordered by Hall Blvd. Durham and Bonita roads to the neighborhoods on 79th.  The city of Durham portion are the neighborhoods west Lower Boones Ferry road.

Trees can be dropped off at Durham Grade School north parking lot while the pack is gathering trees the first Saturday after New Years day.
