Hi Everyone, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I would like to schedule a time to meet with all of you individually with your sons to go over the remaining details to complete the “Arrow of Light” requirements. The following is what I will be discussing with you at that time. Pg 63 #2 Show your knowledge of the requirements to become a Boy Scout by doing all of these: · Repeat from memory and explain in your own words the Scout Oath or Promise and the 12 points of the Scout Law. Tell how you have practiced them in your everyday life.· Give and explain the Scout motto, slogan, sign, salute, and handshake.· Understand the significance of the First Class Scout badge. Describe its parts and tell what each stands for.· Tell how a Boy Scout uniform is different from a Webelos Scout uniform. I would also like to discuss with you about the future for your boys, and if you have an idea about what Boy Scout Troop they would like to join? In January we will be making the arrows for the “Arrow of Light” ceremony. We are estimating it will cost $20 for this project. Would you please bring the money to the meeting so we can buy the kits. I am also putting together a slide show for the crossover ceremony. If you want any of your pictures to be included please bring them to me at the meeting. Meeting Date: December 13th I am scheduling appointments every 30 minutes starting at 1:00pm. Please give me 2 or 3 choices and I will do my best to accommodate everyone. 1:001:302:002:303:003:304:004:305:00 Thank you, DeanScorpion Den Leader PsI Remember last year at the ceremony the graduating class did not know the Scout Oath or the Scout Law. Hi Everyone, Our time as Cub Scouts is coming to an end. We need to start thinking about the next step, picking a Boy Scout Troop. It is in my opinion that Ryan and many others of you will most likely go into Troop 799, but I would like to leave room for him and the rest of the boys to explore other Troops in the region, (530, 799, 423, and 35). Let me know if you would like to look at any other Troops. I will be scheduling times for us to attend these troops’ regular meetings over the next couple of months. These will be most of our meetings during that time. Feel free to work on any activity pin you would like on your own, and I may schedule a meeting if we have time. If you complete any Activity Pin please let me know. The main things we need to work on are:1. Memorizing the Scout Oath and the 12 points of the Scout Law. Tell how you have practiced them in your everyday life. 2. Give and explain the Scout motto, slogan sign salute and handshake.3. Understand the significance of the First Class Scout badge. Describe its parts and tell what each stands for. 4. Tell how a Boy Scout uniform is different from a Webelos Scout uniform. Near the end of November or first of December I will be scheduling meetings with your Scout individually to discuss these topics. At home: - Know: Say the Cub Scout Promise to your family. Discuss these questions with them: What is a promise? What does it mean to keep your word? What does it mean to be trustworthy? What does honesty mean?
- Commit: Discuss these questions with your family. Why is a promise important? Why is it important for people to trust you when you give your word? When might it be difficult to be truthful? List examples.
- Practice: Discuss with a family member why it is important to be trustworthy and honest. How can you do your best to be honest even when it is difficult?
When you have completed the at home items please let me know. Thank you all who attended Webelos Woods. I think we all had a great time!! It was amazing how warm the weather was, and from the sound of it Portland got more rain than we did. Thanks You, Dean 503-329-1050503-620-6880 |
